End of the Year Resolutions

Updated: Oct 14, 2019

It is not too late to break old habits...

2019 is quickly coming to an end! I sure hope you still have your vision board up and are continuing to improve your life daily. If you gave up somewhere around bikini season, that is ok. It is never too late to finish strong. First, let’s get real with each other so that we do not miserably fail come 2020!

Remember these tips when setting your goals:

Rule Number One: Be reasonable with yourself If you are someone who has a crazy schedule do not commit to hitting the gym 6 times a week. Aiming for goals that are too high can set us up for failure. We have to ease into it. Think about how difficult it is to get back into a routine after vacationing for two weeks. I know this is easier said than done! I am guilty of this myself. I like to think that I can do it all, but I have found that I am more successful when I set my goals realistically. When it comes to the gym I like to set two rest days and on weeks where I am feeling worn out I give myself a hall pass! I typically use this day to give my body some TLC. I either stretch for about one full hour or I treat myself to a pedicure. Just so I can sit in the massage chair for one hour.

Rule Number Two: Be balanced

With anything that you do be sure to live a balanced lifestyle, especially when it comes to your diet. I am a food lover and I love to travel, it would be such a shame if my goals interfered with my taste buds! Remember, it is ok to have sugar and carbs every once in a while. However, do be mindful of the added stressors sugar can cause! Many fitness Gurus like to use the 80/20 rule. This means you are allowed to cheat sometimes (with your diet of course)!

Rule Number Three: Keep pushing

If life knocks you down and you lose track of your goals start over! Nobody is judging you. Your peers are likely in the same boat. Use Mondays as an opportunity to start fresh. It is a perfect time to set new intentions and forget about whatever poor choices you made the previous week.

Rule Number Four: Quarterly goals without an expiration

I have found that setting one generic goal for the year benefits me so much more than setting four goals for the year. The reason for that is because I am constantly changing, and so are you! What you want in January will not be what you strive for in July. With that in mind try focusing on quarterly goals. Setting goals throughout each segment of the year will enable you to say focused and leave room for change! However, your quarterly goals should not have end dates. Deadlines are meant for the workplace. Do not stress yourself out by creating deadlines for your achievements!

Now that you are set up for success, let’s do a practice run! Use what is left of 2019 as a foundation to guide you into 2020. I challenge you to start by analyzing every part of your life. Take a look at your eating patterns, are you consuming more junk food than you would like to admit? What about your fitness? Are you coming home from work too exhausted to take a long walk or hit the gym? Most importantly how are your relationships your loved ones and yourself? Think of somethings that you can improve on so that the external factors of your life can come together and benefit you! Who said you have to wait till January 1st to set your 2020 goals! Start practicing them now and get ahead of the game.

Set the tone for what you are about to manifest

1. Light a scented candle or use a diffuser with your favorite essential oils

2. Make sure the space you are in is clean and organized

3. Use vibrant colors to draw your vision board

4. Listen to meditation songs and warm up some tea
